PATIENT | SPECIAL NEEDS | KIND
An outgoing Los Angeles family is seeking a kind, dynamic, and collaborative nanny to join their family and team. Do you have experience working with children with special needs? Are you compassionate and organized and looking to become a part of a loving family to offer support where needed? If you thought “This is perfect for me,” then we have the position for you!
Family Syllabus: This wonderful family in North Hollywood is looking for a nurturing, engaging and team-oriented nanny for their four active children. The family has boy/girl twins who are 15-years-old, a 13-year-old girl, and a 10-year-old girl, all who attend school during the day. The majority of the care will be for their 10-year-old daughter who has a rare genetic disorder and type 1 diabetes, so nannies who have experience with special needs are encouraged to apply. The 10-year old is incredibly loving, playful and kind, and enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and cousins. She loves music, dancing, swimming, and sports, and needs assistance with certain physical tasks, focus and attention, and management of her diabetes. The older children love reading, sports, cooking, and spending time with friends. They will need help with homework, after school activities and transportation. Both parents work outside of the home and they also have one small friendly dog, who will not require care from the nanny. The family keeps a Kosher kitchen, so please be mindful of this. There will be minimal food prep required from the nanny, mostly for the 10-year old daughter. Light shopping and errands will also be required.
Ideal Candidate: This position is ideal for a candidate who is compassionate and organized and has an interest and background in child development and special needs. Someone who is a true team player and who can become part of the family and support their needs will be the perfect fit. A nanny who is super engaging and kind, and sees every interaction (even a car ride home) as an opportunity for connection to help their daughter learn and grow will thrive in this role. This nanny will be a role model for all the children, respecting the child with special needs, helping her develop to her fullest potential and meaningfully participate in all family and social activities. The nanny must be able to manage her diabetes at all times, including checking her blood sugar and giving insulin, and the family is comfortable training the nanny on all aspects of diabetes management. The family is looking for someone who can grow with them and support their needs both at home, during family activities and when traveling. The nanny must be water safe and be able to swim, and have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to transport the children.
Job Synopsis: Some duties for this position will include assistance with shopping, helping to feed, dress, and bathe their youngest child, while also handling pickups and drop offs to and from school and any after school activities. Helping with after-school homework, assisting their youngest daughter so she can participate in sports and after school activities, preparing snacks, and keeping the kids engaged and organized would be ideal. The schedule for this position is generally Monday through Friday from 1:00pm-8:30/9:00pm with flexibility for date nights and occasional Sunday activities. The family will guarantee 40 hours per week. The family is offering $35-45+/hour gross DOE for a live-out role with paid vacation, paid sick time, and paid holidays. Overnights may occasionally be required and the family is looking someone who is open to traveling with them for several weeks at a time domestically and internationally.
